Gamla Stan, the old town, fills the island between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic. The Royal Palace stands at its head, with Storkyrkan beside it; at its heart is Stortorget, with the Nobel Prize Museum in the old Stock Exchange. Riddarholmen, joined to it by a bridge, holds the burial church of the kings.
