Tenant-owner flats

A bostadsrätt is a flat held through a housing association (bostadsrättsförening). Before you bid, ask your agent for the association’s annual report and read its finances with your adviser.

Registering ownership

Lantmäteriet keeps the property register, which shows who owns what, and handles the application to be registered as owner (lagfart). It is also building a national register of bostadsrätter, with their holders, associations and pledges.

Tax

Skatteverket, the Swedish Tax Agency, answers questions on the taxes that apply to buying and owning property.
